John Scott was born about 1749 in Ireland. He married Mary McCorkle. John Scott, Jr. (1773), They lived Maryland near Taneytown in the 1770's. They attended the Piney Creek Presbyterian Church where Reverend Joseph Rhea was pastor. In 1782 and 1783 John received grants 1105, 1117, 1147, 1151 in Sullivan County, Tennessee. In 1790, John Scott was commisioned as a justice of the peace in Sullivan County and was a lieutenant colonel in the Sullivan County militia. John died on September 22, 1811 in Sullivan County, Tennessee. In 1812 William Scott was in Captain King's company. |
